A highlight of a visit to Las Maravillas and the Costa de la Luz is the endless choice of wonderful beaches.  If you want to walk, sunbathe, surf, swim or just  watch the world go by there is a beach for you all year round.  Here are some suggestions but there are many more to visit including in Cadiz, Bolonia and Tarifa.

Cabo Trafalgar

This is a great walk anytime up to the lighthouse past all the surfers and kite surfers. Depending on the weather conditions the beach is a great spot to watch all the activity on the water.

El Palmar

This is the closest beach to Las Maravillas.  It starts just south of Conil de la Frontera and carries on to the lighthouse at Cape Trafalgar. There are all the activities you need there including shops, bars, restaurants, surf schools and even a bar with a swimming pool.  At the far ends of the beach there are clothing optional areas. Plenty of action in the summer and wonderful for walking in the cooler months.

La Fontanilla

This is a very family friendly beach near to Conil de la Frontera.  It is an excellent destination in the winter months when you can have a lovely fresh fish and seafood lunch in one of the restaurants with your feet in the sand! A definite place to visit all year round.

This is yet another beach which is great to visit all year round.  In the summer months there are may beach bars to choose from with excellent facilities day and night including Atenasplaya and Mojama Beach.

10 bars and restaurants to enjoy in Cadiz Province

A recent newspaper article has listed the 10 bars/restaurants in Cadiz province it recommends for their ambiance and decor. It is amazing really that the list is that short.  There are so many excellent places to choose from close to home.  This is however a good list to start from but making your own discoveries  is all part of the experience of getting to know the Costa de la Luz.  Vejer de la Frontera, Cadiz and Jerez are great places to mooch about and find local pitstops for refreshment and to rest weary legs.  There is no shortage of places to choose from – something to suit everyone!

Let me know your discoveries and favorites, drop me a line here.

Semana Santa-a great place to go for Easter break

imageEaster celebrations are very different in Spain and a great way to get involved with local life. Every town and city has parades leading up to Good Friday with lots of families  watching the penitents walking the streets with bare feet, carrying massive religious statues and with bands playing.

Then on Easter Sunday it is the bull run in Vejer when everyone lets their hair down, tries to out run the bull (well not everyone usually just the young men) and has a few drinks to celebrate.

All a completely different experience to the UK with lunch and too many chocolate eggs.

Las Maravillas is available to rent this Easter. Why not have a different Easter this year?

Welcome to Las Maravillas

Welcome to Las Maravillas,

We have owned this home away from home since May 2004 and we have changed just about everything to make it the home and garden that it now is.

We love being here in all seasons, the views are always wonderful and it is a peaceful haven to restore your batteries.  We have tried to provide all the things that you need to have the comforts of home with none of the stress.

We hope that you will choose to visit Las Maravillas and that you will enjoy your time there as much as we do.  Please treat the house as your home with care and respect.  If there are any improvements that you can recommend please let us know.
